Random thoughts from class D game: by Carl Parker, for MBR.ORG:
St. Joe's is a great campus and atmosphere for playing basketball.....the women's college game, a buzzer beater by the home team was a great kick-off to the event.....the class D girl's game was just an indicator of how much the girl's game has improved over the last 25 years..... 2 point guards that stood out in the class D game were Olivia McNally a junior from Kathadin and Shelby Seales a senior from Lubec.....Woodland's Julia Nicholas and Ariel Knights are aggressive hardnose players......there is talented size in the class with 6' Audra Eaton from Deer Isle, 5'11" Kelly Robinson from Bangor Christian, and 5"10" Kasi Parker from Greater Houlton Christian Academy all of who are seniors......Jonesport has another talented Beal in BreAnna a talented big guard.....Valley will have 3 with years two hardworking aggressive sophomores, Cindy Schultz a point guard whose game looks to be modeled after the Baker girl who played at Valley a few years ago, and Jocelyn Laweryson avery tenacious competitor who seemed to get every loose ball......Megan Deraps and Megan Christy proved that Richmond will be a team to contend with in the west..... Buckfield with 4 girls Ashlee Hamman a good little point guard, Emily Eastman a big guard with good shooting range, Lindsey Henderson a solid inside out player and Abby Jones a post presence on the defensive end may be the west favorite.

Random Thoughts on the 2012 game, by Carl Parker for MBR.ORG
I cannot do the game or the players justice because i was getting ready for my game......but players from the west that caught my eye were Will Defanti a talented pt. from Portland..... John Amabile from Deering an aggressive guard who attacks the basket and has three point range, also good at using ball fakes and seeing the court....Nick Dibaise an aggressive player who attacks the basket on offense and played hard on D...... I missed others and I know they are good players but my thoughts were on what I was able to see ......for the east Aidan Hadley from Rockland is a big strong player with excellent hands who can take contact and score, sets good screens, and competes..... Jonesport has 2 talented players who have the ability to score in Matt and Justin Alley....Walker Cooper from Cony is a long perimeter player who has range but can also put it on the floor......Again I missed a number of other good players but for the rest of you keep working these thoughts were from just one persons eyes and he did not have the time to see everything.........GOOD LUCK TO ALL MAINE PLAYERS BECAUSE THE REAL SEASON HAS BEGUN, HOPE ALL HAVE THE THRILL OF PLAYING IN THE TOURNAMENT. ONE OF LIFES TRUE MAGICAL TIMES.

Random Thoughts Class B, by Carl Parker for MBR.ORG
Jon Klages, Freeport, is tough and can play basketball, a player coaches love if they're on their team......With Young and Tierney Greely has to be a favorite....Dickey and Bowe give Cape a good pair to contend with.....Phil Leighton is one of the better point guards in the state, good decisions and the ability to score....Dan Sheehan gives York a big player who can play inside or out and pose match-up problems.....Mancini and Horning give Falmouth two talented guards who are athletic and can score.....Evan Kenney from Gray gives them a player who can score from the inside and perimeter.....Camden is the prohibitive favorite in the East with Fischer, Safford, Lammi, and Mcfarland they all can play on the perimeter and can do damage inside, each will have the opportunity to play in college.....Colton Gross gives hermon one of the better point guards in th state who can distribute but also has the ability to score....Ben Johnson from Maranacook is a big with a lot of potential....Eric Goodwin from Gardiner is a guard who plays hard has good quickness and can run a team....Brady Vose, MA, can shoot and has a scorers mentality.....Ryan Petros from Ellsworth is a player who can score but is an underrated passer and has the tools to be a good defender.....Luke Bartlett is a solid guard.

A West 54 vs A East 61

Video of Class A game:

Random Thoughts Class A , by Carl Parker for MBR.ORG
In the west most have the players who have had alot of hype, Hyland SP, Morse TA, Borelli Westbrook, DiStasio Cheverus, Faithiful Cheverus, Bogdanovich Portland all potential all-staters playing on teams that could win the west..... Nick Jobin from Westbook a talented athletic player who has deep range may help push Westbrook up into elite team status..... as might Portlands talented guard Koang Thoak an athletic scorer, help Portland reach the promised land......Lenny Cummings from Cheverus could be the trump card in the west if motivated, has a lot of tools but needs to find them and use them to reach his full potential and help his team.....Mt Blue has a great guard tandem in Jamie Sawyer and Ben Russell..... late addition to the all-star game Kyle O'Connell showed great poise and skill which explains why many feel Brewer has a chance to win the east....Jacob Moore is an inside out threat for hampden....Corey Therriault and Jimbo Philbrook give EL two solid players to build around.....Jordan Taylor gives Skowhegan toughness and a player who can go inside but step out and hit shots.....O'Connells teammate Dom Drake is athletic and showed the ability to score......Nate Henigan from Bangor is a tough competive kid as is Zach Brann from Messalonskee.
